Dave's Signature 5 wt Travel Fly Rod
is the first in a series of custom crafted fly rods. Almost 2 years in
research and field testing, the 9' 5 wt. 4 pc. is arguably the perfect all
purpose trout rod for both rivers and and lakes. The handsome IM-6 graphite is
finished in deep green and appointed with stainless snake guides and a SIC
stripping guide all wrapped in deep green.
The grip is finished in A-3
grade quality cork with a superfine shape. The up-locking Aluminum Anodized
woven carbon in matte gunsmoke finish with back strap is complemented
aesthetically with a nice Tiger maple wood insert. A hook keeper adds a touch
of class as does the understated lettering in gold leaf.
The rod is supplied with a
top quality dark green 4 section velour pouch. To protect your investment a
beautiful aluminum rod tube with brass end caps and finished in the same deep
green with gold lettering as the rod and a handsome synthetic leather
protective tube sleeve with a cordura shoulder strap are included at no
additional cost.
ROD WARRANTY:
Each
rod sale carries a one time limited lifetime warranty for the original
purchaser of the rod only. If the rod should change hands the warranty is void.
A copy of the original invoice purchase receipt will be kept on file with Tight
Lines and you will be immediately added to our register of warranty rod owners.
In the event of a failure for the rod to perform properly, simply
return the complete rod, velour pouch and aluminum rod tube to Tight Lines,
Massachusetts offices with a check or money order for $54.95. This charge is
for shipping and handling. Once a warranty replacement rod is shipped your name
will be deleted from our warranty protection files.
WHY THIS
LIMITED WARRANTY? In light of today's replacement polices allowed by
large rod manufactures Dave Botelho does not want to cheapen the quality of his
rods because of escalating costs. The above warranty eliminates the frequent
violators of the" Lifetime Rod Replacement Warranties" Dave Botelho's
philosophy is that the purchaser has to bear some responsibility toward the
care and treatment of their rod instead of placing the full responsibility on
warranty policies of fortune 500 rod manufactures.
This easy casting medium
action rod is ideal for nymphing, streamer fishing and will present a size #22
BlueWing Olive Dry fly with the precision of a surgeon.
The Rod alone weighs 3.8
ounces and when packed in it's aluminum rod tube measures just 29 1/2 long and
2 1/8 in diameter wide. ideal for carry on Air Travel, backpacking, hiking,
ATV, or Horseback.
Dave's Signature Rod
is being sold as a single rod with velour pouch and aluminum tube only, OR as a
combo with a Teton Tioga #6 with a Standard Reel or Large Arbor Reel in your
choice of color, Alpine Green, Gunsmoke, or Black. (A savings of $20.00 if
purchased separately).

TESTIMONIALS
Dave,
My brother Don and his wife Duetta just returned from a fishing trip on
the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. Both of them have your Dave Botelho signature
rods.
Don and Duetta used your 5wt almost exclusively when fishing fresh
water. Other than a large trout or Dolly Varden the guide knocked off, he said
they didn't lose a single fish. He attributes that to the fact that the rod is
flexible enough to act as a shock absorber and prevent the fish from breaking
off. They caught quite a variety of fish including trout and Dolly Vardens on
the Upper Kenai, King Salmon on the Lower Kenai, Coho or Silver Salmon in
various places, Yellow Eye, Silvers and Black Bass in Seward Bay and Halibut,
Cod and Skate in Saltwater. He couldn't say enough good things about your rod
and reel combo. Obviously they didn't use the 5wt for Halibut or Kings.

Lines Photo Gallery."

Hi Dave:
I geared up your dark green Signature Rod
and the green Tioga reel with the Teeny #5 weight forward line and went out in
my back field to test it. That field is now mowed like a golf course for my
practice area. It was a bit windy but I was able to cast 70 feet with ease and
double haul to add another 10 feet. That line really slides well through the
guides! The rod action is fast but delicate (not too whippy ) - a good blend as
far as I am concerned. I like that you incorporated the dots to line up the
sections. I got out my 6 weight mid range Sage rod
(sells for $480 Canadian) that I have been using for trout to compare to it. I
used the same reel and line on both. The sage rod was rated for a 6 wt line.
You will be pleased to know that your signature rod was lighter, cast slightly
further and had a smoother curve in it when stressed with the same tip weight.
Your rod allowed me to shoot the line easier as well. I think you have a winner
there!! With the excellent performance the price for your signature rod is very
competitive as well ! I will certainly be recommending it to others. I also
appreciate your advice on matching lines and reels for my fishing conditions. I
can hardly wait for spring to come. I may also take it to Flowers River in
Labrador to try on the big trout there next July. However I would hate to get
that beautiful green and gold aluminum case scratched during the plane
trip.

Dave,
My brother received his rod & reel and is completely
awed by it. He took it to work to show it off. He really appreciated the flies
you included. Once he gets the line on the reel, he plans to take it to
Oakland, CA where they have a series of casting ponds. Thanks for all your
efforts. I'll keep you informed on how it worked out after he takes it fishing.
Possibly more sales will come out of this. I planted a bug in his ear, but then
again I'm not sure he wants anyone else in their group to have as good an
outfit as he does.
Have a great Thanksgiving.
Regards,

Dear Dave,
I'm writing to tell you about your
Signature five weight rod. I purchased one last year as a Christmas present to
my self; and finally got to fish with it this Spring. I don't know what you set
out to design with the rod, but you've created a near magic wand for me. To
date I have landed: rainbow trout, large and small mouth bass, yellow perch,
sunfish, pickerel, tiger muskee, and black crappie from freshwater. I've also
landed more school sized striped bass than I can count from the salty stuff,
some up to 24" in length! One day might find me fishing from a float tube; the
9 foot length makes it a breeze to flick out big wind resistant bass bugs. The
next day I'll be wading a river high stick nymphing with little size 20
pheasant tails, and working dry flys with the same rod. The next night I'm
ripping 1/0 sized deceivers under a Jim Teeney sink tip line for salt water
bass. The Dave Botelho Signature Five Weight has become my go to rod, and it
handles all I can give it in style. This four piece rod will be making the trip
with me out West to Montana this Fall without question.
Thanks for
offering this great rod at such a great price!
Tight Lines? With my
Dave Botelho Signature Five Weight rod I can depend on them!
